Yesterday, Babushka Dora, Alex and I went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We had a lot of fun.

We saw some cool critters.

And we were pretty tired when we got done.

June 6, 2008Internet frustrations
June 4, 2008No blog yesterday, no cute photos or videos of Alex. Apparently, my laptop has figured out that its replacement has been ordered, and has vowed to make me regret it (not ordering sooner, that is). All day, I struggled with intermittent internet, until realizing only at a late hour that I could get a good connection if I plugged a cable directly into my computer and the router. So, don’t trip over the wires if you come visit.
My next workhorse is the Dell XPS M1530. What I really wanted was an Alienware laptop, especially for its backlit keyboard and alien logo on the lid…it would make me the hippest Mom this year.
Speaking of aliens, we’ve been watching Buck Rogers episodes on Netflix. It’s just amazing how all the aliens are just like humans! Well, since we’re the end result of evolution, that only makes sense. Dawkins, don’t strike me down with a lightning bolt. 🙂
Before I lose your interest completely, here are the cute photos of Alex eating broccoli.
- Having a little broccoli tree
- Spitting out the first bite
- Big spoonful
- You gotta be kidding me

June 2, 2008Greens
June 2, 2008Well, Alex sure takes after his Grandma Marilyn! He tried some cooked kale today, and ate it right up! He loves his greens.
Vaccines
May 30, 2008Alex got 2 vaccines today, the DTaP and the oral one for Rotavirus. He wasn’t impressed with the taste of the Rotavirus liquid, but he didn’t even flinch when he got the DTaP shot. Obviously he got his fearlessness from me, since we all know how Greg reacted to his shots when he was a kid 😉
We’re breaking up the vaccines according to the alternate schedule in The Vaccine Book. According to our pediatrician, a lot of parents are asking for this alternate schedule. I do meet Moms who tell me they love their pediatrician, and just do whatever the Doctor recommends. Personally, I respect my pediatrician, and do what she recommends if I’ve researched it and decided that it makes sense.
Alex got his first bite of pear today, both in pear mush and chunk form. His favorite fruit seems to be banana, apple second, pear third. He’s also tried Asian pear, but he spit most of that out.

…and now to the tune of “Oh where oh where did my little pear go…”

May 29, 2008Wrestling is obviously in the genes. And so is making a racket.

May 28, 2008This morning, the littlest Vialle weighed in at 17lb 1/2oz. I still can’t figure out why he feels so darn heavy when I carry him. Is there such a thing as hidden matter? You can feel it, but the scales don’t show it? Of course, I’ve often experienced the opposite in myself, where the scales came up with extra pounds for me, that I couldn’t figure out where they came from!
On another matter, for those of you who think that true wisdom can’t be expressed by cheap slogans and cute expressions, check out this gem (from Java Mama somewhere between the Smoky Mountains and Hotlanta):

Captain’s Log
May 28, 2008This is the start of my blog. Mostly, I’ll blog about Alex, for the simple reason that my life is currently occupied by Alex and work….and who really wants to hear about my work?
So, Alex is exactly 7 months old today. He just started crawling. He also says something like “mama”, really! I’m not sure it’s directed to me, but hey I’ll take it.
